High Street Recruitment

New training equipment

Guildford Jitsu Club is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a grant of £4,995 by Awards for All, the organisation which awards grants on behalf of the National Lottery.

The grant will be used to help cover venue hire and to purchase new training mats, which greatly aid in securing the future of the club and give us some of the best training facilities in the region. Naturally we are very excited about the grant, not just for the new facilities, but also for the recognition that we are doing something worth supporting.

Our old mats, meanwhile, will be passed on to other Jitsu clubs in the region so that they can indirectly benefit from the grant too.

To mark the occasion, we were pleased to welcome Anne Milton, MP for Guildford, to our session on 20th Feb for a demonstration of Jitsu. Look out for coverage of the event in the local press!

Happy New Year 2007!

To all our members, I hope you had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year - and what better way to work off the excess of turkey, chocolates and booze than to come back to the dojo and start training again :)

First and foremost, I'd like to extend a very warm welcome to those of you who joined us following our recruitment event in the town centre on Saturday (6th Jan). It was fantastic to see so many new faces at today's session and I hope that many of you will come to enjoy Jitsu as much as I do.

2006 was a great first year for Guildford Jitsu Club. Congratulations are due to Matt, Chris and Ben for their success in gradings, let's hope that many more of us will also have shiny new coloured belts by this time next year. We also had a very successful trip to the Nationals in Birmingham, which was very well attended and we all had a great time.

The Club now has a range of merchandise available featuring the new club logo (red & white, above): T-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts and rugby shirts, in a variety of colours. Members who have already placed their orders will no doubt be pleased to hear that I anticipate delivery within the next couple of weeks - anyone else wishing to place an order should email the Committee for colours and prices.

See you all on the mat :)

Jitsu is above all a practical, defensive martial art. Although you need not be fit to start Jitsu, regular training will improve your general fitness, flexibility, strength, coordination, reaction time and, above all, self-confidence. Of course, you will also learn to look after yourself.

Beginners Welcome

All you need to start is some loose fitting clothing and willingness to learn.

First Session Free!

Each session is £4 and lasts 2 hours
